Base64 is not encryption
Base64 is an encoding format. Anyone can decode Base64 without a key. It does not protect data from being read, so it should never be used as a way to keep information secret. The format is defined in RFC 4648. If you need real protection for passwords, keys or personal data, use proper encryption instead of Base64.
Accuracy and results in this disclaimer
We work to make the tool accurate, but we cannot guarantee that every result is correct or complete for every input. Check important results yourself before relying on them. File type detection when decoding to a file is a best guess based on the file’s first bytes or a data URL prefix, so it can occasionally be wrong. Very large inputs may be slow or fail, depending on your device and browser.
Your responsibility
You are responsible for the content you process and for how you use the results. Do not use the tool for anything unlawful. Keep backups of any files you convert, because we cannot recover anything for you. Your text and files are handled in your browser, and you can read more in our Privacy Policy.
No professional advice
The guides and examples on this site are educational. They are not legal, security or other professional advice. If you have a specific legal or security question, please speak to a qualified professional.

Safe habits when using Base64
To get the best and safest results, test your output with a small sample first, keep the original file in a safe place, and never paste private passwords or secret keys into any online tool you do not fully trust. If you are not sure whether something is safe to encode or share, it is better to ask a qualified person before you continue.
