Terms of Use
Last updated: November 2026
Short version: the tool is free, it runs in your browser, and you agree to use it lawfully and at your own risk.
By using Opalify (“we”, “us”, “the site”), you agree to these terms of use. If you do not agree, please do not use the site. We kept the wording simple so you can read it in a few minutes. To learn more about who runs the site, visit our About Us page.
Our terms of use in 7 easy rules
- Use the free Base64 encoder and decoder only for lawful purposes.
- Do not attack, overload or disrupt the site.
- You keep all rights to the text and files you enter.
- Base64 is encoding, not encryption, so never rely on it to hide secrets.
- The site is provided as is, without any warranty.
- We are not liable for loss or damage from using the tool.
- These terms may change, and using the site after a change means you accept it.
1. The service
The site provides a free online tool for encoding and decoding Base64 text and files. All conversion happens in your browser, so your content is not sent to our servers. You can try the tool on our home page.
2. Acceptable use under these terms of use
You agree to use the site only for lawful purposes. You must not:
- use the tool to process content you have no right to use, or content that is illegal;
- try to disrupt, overload or attack the site or its hosting;
- copy the site in a way that suggests it is yours, or resell it as your own service without permission.
3. Your content
You keep all rights to the text and files you enter. We do not receive or store them. You are responsible for making sure you are allowed to process them. For details on how your data is handled, read our Privacy Policy.
4. Not a security tool
Base64 is an encoding format, not encryption. It does not protect or hide data, and anyone can reverse it. The format is described in RFC 4648. Do not rely on this site to secure passwords, keys, personal data or any sensitive information.
5. No warranty
The site is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not promise that the tool will be uninterrupted, error-free, or suitable for your particular purpose. Very large inputs may be slow or fail depending on your device and browser. See our Disclaimer for more detail.
6. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss or damage, including lost data or profits, arising from your use of, or inability to use, the site. Please keep your own backups of anything important.
7. Intellectual property
The design, text and code of the site belong to the site owner unless stated otherwise. Base64 itself is an open standard and is free to use. If you want a general introduction to copyright, the World Intellectual Property Organization explains the basics.
8. Third-party links
The site may link to other websites. We do not control them and are not responsible for their content or practices.
9. Changes to the terms of use
We may change the site or these terms of use at any time. The “Last updated” date at the top shows when they last changed. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the country where the site owner is based, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
11. Contact
If you have a question about these terms of use, please visit our Contact Us page or email contact@your-domain.com.
