Privacy Policy
Last updated: November 2026
Short version: your data is processed locally in your browser. We do not upload your text or files, and we do not sell your personal information.
This privacy policy explains what information Opalify (“we”, “us”, “the site”) does and does not collect when you use our free Base64 Encoder & Decoder. We wrote it in plain language so you can read it quickly and understand it easily. If you want to know more about who we are, visit our About Us page.
Our privacy policy in 7 easy promises
- Text and files you enter stay inside your own browser.
- We never upload your content to our servers or to any outside service.
- We do not store, log or read what you encode or decode.
- The tool does not need an account, a sign-up or a password.
- We never sell your personal information to anyone.
- Your light or dark mode choice is the only setting saved, and it stays on your device.
- You can contact us at any time with a privacy question.
1. What you enter into the tool
Text you type or paste, files you select, and the results you see are handled entirely by JavaScript running in your own browser. This content is not sent to our servers, not sent to any external API, not stored in a database, and not logged. Closing or reloading the page removes this content from the tool.
2. Information stored in your browser
The tool saves one small setting in your browser’s local storage: your light or dark mode choice. It never contains your text or files, and it stays on your device. You can remove it at any time by clearing your browser’s site data.
3. Information collected automatically
Like most websites, our hosting provider may keep standard server logs, such as IP address, browser type, device type, pages requested, and the date and time of the request. These logs are used for security, troubleshooting and basic traffic statistics. They do not include anything you enter into the tool, because that never leaves your browser.
4. Analytics, cookies and advertising
The tool itself does not set cookies. If this site uses third-party services such as analytics or advertising, those services may set cookies or collect usage data under their own policies. Any such services will be named in this privacy policy before they are used.
5. Sharing of information
We do not sell your personal information. We only share information when required by law, or when it is needed to operate the site through our hosting provider.
6. Security and Base64
Because the tool works locally, your content is not transmitted for conversion. Remember that Base64 is an encoding format, not encryption: it does not protect data from being read. Please do not treat Base64 output as secure, and never share passwords or private keys in encoded form. You can read the full technical standard in RFC 4648.
7. Children’s privacy
This site is a general-purpose utility and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. To learn how child privacy rules work in the United States, see the Federal Trade Commission guidance.
8. Your rights under this privacy policy
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what personal data we hold about you, or to ask us to correct or delete it. Since we do not collect the content you enter, this mainly concerns server logs and any messages you send us. To make a request, use our Contact Us page or the email below.
9. Related pages
Please read this privacy policy together with our Terms of Use and our Disclaimer. Together they explain how the site works, what you can expect from it, and the limits of what we offer.
10. Changes to this privacy policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top shows when it last changed. If we make an important change, we will make it clear on this page.
11. Contact
